Ahead of the West Bengal Assembly elections, high-security bulletproof multipurpose light vehicles have been deployed in Bhabanipur as part of extensive election preparedness.
These heavily armoured vehicles, brought in from Jammu and Kashmir, were spotted during route marches conducted by central forces. Commonly used by forces like the Central Reserve Police Force in conflict-prone areas, the vehicles are designed to withstand gunfire and operate in volatile situations.
Officials stated that the vehicles will be used during polling to tackle emergencies such as violence, firing, or mob attacks. They are also capable of safely evacuating personnel or civilians if required.
Each vehicle can carry a team of armed commandos and is equipped with advanced features, including protective armour and tactical response systems. The move is part of broader efforts to ensure a secure and peaceful voting process across sensitive constituencies in the state.
