Kolkata: The annual cultural programme ‘Gunj 2026’, organised by the Union Bank of India Officers’ Association, was held at Nazrul Mancha in Kolkata on Sunday, March 1. The event turned into a vibrant cultural evening featuring dance, music, poetry recitation, instrumental performances and drama.
The programme was inaugurated with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by Union Bank of India’s Kolkata Regional Head Santosh Sahu, Greater Kolkata Regional Head Amit Kumar, Howrah Regional Head Surendra Singh Gusai, Association President Randeep Sen, General Secretary Debabrata Das, along with other distinguished guests.
Despite their demanding professional schedules, bank employees showcased their remarkable cultural talents during the event. Poetry recitations, piano performances and dance presentations by Union Bank officers and their family members captivated the audience. A theatrical performance of ‘Alibaba Panchali’, jointly staged by members and retired employees, received widespread appreciation.
The second half of the programme featured musical performances by artists Basudev Das Baul, Bidipta Chakraborty and Arunita Kanjilal, whose songs added grandeur to the evening and enthralled the audience at Nazrul Mancha.
Alongside cultural celebrations, the association also highlighted its social commitment. Around forty children from a voluntary organisation were provided with school bags, study materials and food items as part of a welfare initiative undertaken by the Union Bank of India Officers’ Association.
Blending culture with social responsibility, Gunja 2026 emerged as a memorable and meaningful event.
