Two more healthcare workers have been admitted to a government hospital in West Bengal after developing symptoms suspected to be linked to the Nipah virus. The two were posted at the same medical facility and had been involved in treating a colleague who was earlier confirmed to be infected.
Health officials said the workers developed fever and other related symptoms, following which they were shifted to Beliaghata Infectious Diseases Hospital for isolation and medical observation. Their samples have been collected and sent for testing to confirm whether they are infected with the virus.
Meanwhile, the condition of the two healthcare workers who had earlier tested positive remains critical, with both under intensive medical care. The state health department has intensified surveillance, contact tracing, and precautionary measures to prevent any further spread, while urging people not to panic and to follow health advisories.
