Kolkata Police have started efforts to identify the Enforcement Directorate officials who conducted raids at the office and residence of I-PAC chief Pratik Jain in the city. The move comes after complaints were lodged alleging procedural irregularities during the search operations.
According to police sources, two separate FIRs have been registered in connection with the raids—one at a police station in central Kolkata and another in the Salt Lake area. The complaints were filed following allegations raised by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee regarding the conduct of the central agency officials.
As part of the investigation, the police have collected CCTV footage from the residential premises and examined the visitors’ register to track those who entered the building during the raid. Statements are also being recorded from security personnel and others who were present at the time.
Police are additionally trying to ascertain the identities of the central armed police personnel who accompanied the ED team during the operation. Officials said they may formally seek details from the Enforcement Directorate to determine which officers and security personnel were involved.
The investigation is at a preliminary stage, and police officials said further steps would depend on the information gathered during the identification process.
