PM Modi Speaks to Israeli PM Netanyahu, Calls for Early End to Hostilities

Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a telephonic conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to discuss the evolving regional situation and stressed that ensuring civilian safety must remain the top priority.

In a post on X, Modi said he conveyed India’s concerns over recent developments and reiterated the need for an early cessation of hostilities. He emphasised that protecting civilians remains essential amid escalating tensions in West Asia.

The Prime Minister stated that India continues to support efforts aimed at reducing tensions and restoring stability in the region.

Modi also spoke with the President of the United Arab Emirates, Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, strongly condemning the recent attacks on the UAE and expressing condolences over the loss of lives. He conveyed India’s solidarity with the UAE during the difficult period and thanked the Emirati leadership for ensuring the welfare of the Indian community living there.

The diplomatic outreach comes amid heightened regional tensions following a joint military strike carried out by Israel and the United States against Iran on February 28 under operations named Operation Roaring Lion and Operation Epic Fury.

US President Donald Trump and Iranian state media have claimed that Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was killed in the strikes, along with several members of his family, significantly escalating geopolitical concerns across the region.
