Enumeration Drive Nearing Deadline: How Many Forms Are Still Left to Distribute in Bengal

With only five days remaining until the enumeration phase of the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) concludes on December 11, updated figures show that West Bengal is nearing completion of the large-scale form distribution and digitisation process, though some gaps still remain.

According to the latest data provided by the Election Commission, a total of 76,616,840 enumeration forms have been distributed across West Bengal so far. This accounts for 99.97 per cent of the target. The remaining undistributed forms are slightly above 20,000, which officials say must be delivered within the next few days to meet the deadline.

In terms of digitisation, 76,196,871 forms have already been entered into the system, amounting to 99.43 per cent of the total received forms. This leaves about 0.57 per cent still pending, which the Commission aims to complete by December 11.

The enumeration and digitisation process is part of a nationwide Special Intensive Revision being conducted in twelve other states and Union Territories. The first phase of this revision—which involves the distribution, collection, and digitisation of Enumeration Forms 1, 2, and 3—must be finished by December 11.

Across the country, more than 509 million forms have been distributed so far under this drive, and around 490 million forms have been digitised. Election officials say the figures reflect strong progress nationwide, though some local-level delays persist.

District authorities in West Bengal have been instructed to intensify door-to-door work wherever gaps in distribution or data entry exist. The Election Commission has stressed the importance of meeting the deadline, as delays in this initial phase could affect subsequent stages of the voter list revision process.

With the deadline approaching, officials remain confident that Bengal will complete the process on time, while keeping close watch on areas with pending tasks to ensure all targets are met smoothly before December 11.
