Burnpur, West Bengal: Every year, September 15 is observed as Engineers’ Day in India to commemorate the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, one of the country’s greatest engineers.
Visvesvaraya made remarkable contributions to the making of modern India and gave the nation a new vision through his dedication and innovative ideas in the field of engineering.
In his honor, and on the occasion of Engineers’ Day on Monday, the Burnpur Diploma Engineers’ Welfare Association organized a voluntary blood donation camp at the BUC Conference Hall of Burnpur Stadium.
The camp was graced by Sabyasachi Dutta, General Manager I/C (HR) of Burnpur SAIL ISP, as the Chief Guest, while Sushil Kumar Suman, President of the ISP Officers’ Association, attended as the Special Guest.
All the blood donors who participated in the camp were felicitated with certificates and mementos by the Association.
Speaking on the occasion, Laba Kumar Manna, General Secretary of the Burnpur Diploma Engineers’ Welfare Association, said:
“Like last year, we are proud and overwhelmed to organize this camp in association with Burnpur Hospital. Along with working for the designations, higher education, and career growth of diploma engineers of SAIL ISP, our association also carries a sense of responsibility towards society. This blood donation camp is a reflection of that commitment.”
Mir Musarraf Ali, Additional General Secretary of the Association and convener of the camp, added: “In the last two months, many voluntary organizations in Burnpur have organized blood donation camps, where several blood warriors from SAIL ISP have actively participated. Despite adverse weather, 25 donors came forward today, which is truly commendable. The collected blood has been handed over to Burnpur Hospital Blood Bank authorities.”
On behalf of the Association, President Somnath Maji expressed gratitude to all donors, guests, Burnpur Hospital Blood Bank staff, and association members for making the camp a success.

Good job.
