Coal India Seeks Unified Support from Trade Unions for Smooth Implementation of New Labour Laws

Coal India Limited has urged all trade unions and employees to extend unified support for the smooth and effective implementation of the labour laws. In an official message, Chairman Sanoj Kumar Jha said that the four new labour laws mark a historic transformation in the country’s labour framework, aimed at simplifying compliance processes, strengthening worker welfare, and enhancing organisational efficiency.

He stated that these reforms will bring better benefits to workers in areas such as healthcare services, social security, gender equality, safety, welfare, and skill development. The integrated labour structure will increase transparency in processes and ensure timely access to various benefits for employees, positively impacting both the organisation and its workforce.

The chairman also highlighted that the prolonged monsoon during the 2025–26 financial year adversely affected the company’s production. Several subsidiary companies are still in the process of recovering from its impact, due to which the set annual targets and last year’s corresponding production levels could not be achieved.

He cautioned that any form of negative activity or disruption at this time could further reduce production, directly affecting the company’s overall performance. Sanoj Kumar Jha appealed to all stakeholders to maintain industrial peace, harmony, and cooperation, emphasising that these are essential for the steady progress of the coal sector and for ensuring the country’s energy security.
