Chittaranjan, West Bengal: The Chittaranjan Locomotive Works (CLW) has achieved an unprecedented milestone — a record never before touched since its establishment. The factory has produced 400 electric locomotives in just 148 working days.
The 400th locomotive of the current financial year 2025–26 was officially flagged off on September 25. Out of these 400 locomotives, 100 were manufactured at CLW’s Dankuni unit.
According to the organization’s Public Relations Department, CLW achieved the production of 400 locomotives 45 days ahead of the corresponding mark in the previous financial year.
It is noteworthy that the Railway Board has set a target of 777 locomotives for CLW in the 2025–26 fiscal year. The press release expressed optimism that, if the current pace continues, the Chittaranjan Locomotive Works may surpass its annual target.
