Barnpur, West Bengal: Burnpur SAIL-ISP (IISCO Steel Plant) on Thursday signed a landmark agreement with Metso India Pvt. Ltd., Kolkata, and Autotec (Germany) consortium for the establishment of a new Sinter Plant Complex with a capacity of 2.673 MTPA (Million Tonnes Per Annum).
Director In-Charge of the plant, Surajit Mishra, stated that under this agreement, a new sinter machine covering 252 square meters will be installed. The plant will be made fully production-ready within 40 months of signing.
SAIL-ISP is pursuing a brownfield capacity expansion plan through the Blast Furnace–Basic Oxygen Furnace route, aimed at enhancing its crude steel production capacity to 4.08 MTPA.
The expansion includes the installation of a new Blast Furnace with a volume of 5,650 cubic meters. To meet about 33% of the sinter requirement for this new furnace, a state-of-the-art Sinter Plant Complex (SP-3) will be set up. This facility will feature a 1×252 sq.m sinter machine along with other auxiliary facilities, enabling the production of 2,673,000 tonnes of gross sinter annually.
The new Sinter Plant will be equipped with Emission Optimized Sintering (EOS) technology, which will significantly reduce solid fuel consumption and stack emissions. This initiative marks another strong step by SAIL-ISP toward environmental sustainability, energy efficiency, and sustainable growth.
