A lawyer was shot dead in broad daylight in Uttar Pradesh’s Mirzapur while he was out for a morning walk, sparking panic in the locality.
The victim, identified as advocate Rajeev Singh, was approached by two men on a motorcycle. One of them got down and fired at him from close range, killing him on the spot.
After carrying out the attack, the assailants attempted to flee but faced an unexpected delay as their motorcycle failed to start. They struggled briefly before managing to get it running and escaping.
The incident drew attention from nearby locals, though people kept their distance after the attackers reportedly threatened them.
Police have registered a case and launched a manhunt. Officials say the motive is yet to be confirmed, but a local dispute is suspected as one of the possible reasons.
