Multiple suspected drone intrusion attempts were reported near the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday evening, triggering a heightened security response by the Indian Army.
According to officials, at least one drone was spotted in the Nowshera sector of Rajouri district, following which troops opened fire to intercept it. Similar drone-like objects were also observed hovering over forward areas close to the Line of Control and the International Border in parts of Rajouri, Poonch and Samba districts.
Security forces have launched search operations in the affected areas to check whether the drones managed to drop any arms, ammunition or other contraband. No casualties or recoveries were reported till the filing of this report.
The incidents come amid continued concerns over the use of drones for cross-border infiltration and smuggling activities. Security agencies remain on high alert and are closely monitoring the situation along the border.
