On Sunday, 28 December 2025, Ras Magan Music Academy organised a cultural evening of Indian classical music at the auditorium of Yogesh Mime Academy, Kalighat, Kolkata. The programme began at 5:30 pm and witnessed the presence of music lovers and connoisseurs of classical traditions.
The evening commenced with a moment of reverence, paying homage to the founder of the academy, Baba Abdul Rashid Khan, and remembering the contributions and legacy of Pandit Chinmoy Lahiri and Shyamal Lahiri. The Secretary of the academy, Dr Pubalika Bhattacharya Maitra, entrusted the responsibility of conducting the programme to Akashbani-FM announcer Koyel Dasgupta, who gracefully anchored the event.
The first performance of the evening was presented by Suvendu Ghosh, Vice-President of Ras Magan Music Academy. He rendered Raga Kedar in bilambit ektal, followed by drut compositions in tintal and a tarana. He was accompanied on tabla by Samit Ghosh, with tanpura support by Sanchari Choudhury.

The second segment featured sitarist Saptarshi Hazra, who performed Raga Chayanat and later Raga Hameer. His presentation was supported on tabla by Raghunath Nandi, adding rhythmic depth to the recital.

The concluding performance of the evening was delivered by the President of Ras Magan Music Academy and its present guru, Pandit Subhomoy Bhattacharya. He presented Raga Rageshree with a bilambit ektal, followed by drut compositions in tintal and ektal, including a bandish composed by Baba Abdul Rashid Khan. He concluded his recital with a thumri in Manjh Khamaj. He was accompanied on tabla by Samir Nandy, on harmonium by Pradeep Palit, on tanpura by Sandeep Mukherjee, with vocal support from Saptarshi Mandal.

The entire programme was conducted smoothly and with discipline by the members of Ras Magan Music Academy, making the evening a memorable celebration of Indian classical music traditions.
