Asansol: To ensure passenger safety and curb illegal activities within station premises, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Asansol Division conducted “Operation Satark” at Asansol station on Sunday, December 14.
During the operation, RPF personnel noticed two individuals moving suspiciously with luggage near the escalator in front of the baggage scanner on Platform No. 7 at Asansol station. The RPF team immediately detained the two persons along with their luggage for verification. Upon search, 288 pouches of a branded liquor were recovered from one suitcase and one trolley bag. No objectionable items were found in the remaining bags.
During interrogation, the detained persons failed to produce any valid documents or authorization for possession and transportation of the liquor. They admitted that the liquor was being taken for illegal sale in Bihar, where liquor is prohibited. Following due legal procedures in the presence of witnesses, the seized liquor was confiscated by the RPF.
