Number of ‘Zero Uncollectable’ Booths in Bengal Drops to 480 After Fresh Verification

The Election Commission’s earlier data showing 2,208 polling booths in West Bengal with zero “uncollectable” enumeration forms has been sharply revised after a detailed verification drive. The latest figures indicate that only 480 booths are in this category.

The “uncollectable” forms refer to voter records belonging to individuals who are deceased, relocated, duplicated, or otherwise untraceable. It was considered unusual by election officials that such forms were absent entirely across more than two thousand booths in a state of Bengal’s size.

Following concerns raised by the Election Commission, District Election Officers and District Magistrates were asked to re-examine data from these booths. After ground-level checks and re-submission of corrected reports, the number of booths with a flawless voter list dropped significantly.

Among districts, South 24 Parganas continues to have the highest number of booths that still show zero uncollectable forms, though even there, the figures have decreased after review.

Officials note that the revised numbers highlight the importance of on-the-ground verification rather than relying solely on submitted paperwork. The process is part of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls aimed at ensuring accuracy and credibility of the voter list ahead of upcoming electoral cycles.
